5/10/2021: Throughout the process of this painting I kept going back and fourth with how I wanted to showcase my inspiration. For awhile I felt I would just paint these individuals to the best of my ability. Then I decided why I was inspired in the first place to show something that means a lot to me. I would depict the constant thoughts that occur in many individuals over how they view their bodies. A lot of people see themselves extremely distorted and I decided to go with that idea. So my final painting expresses how debilitating body dysmorphia can be stemming from a very young age.
Given such a heavy topic, I wanted to also create some sort of clarity and hope. So the setting of the photo is something that always calms me personally, the sunset of a beach setting.
Thank you all for such an amazing semester!

i’m focusing my last project on a landscape that showcases a mother / daughter figure. Within these individuals I am portraying body dysmorphia and how this societal issue stems from a very young age. My mentor artist is: Daniel Martin
